Affiliation 2025

How to Join the League.

If schools want to join the Western Cape Schools Cycling League, they need to affiliate with School Cycling South Africa (SCSA). Students from affiliated schools can jump into the Schools’ MTB League events by just paying the entry fee.

The affiliation fees go to SCSA and help keep things running smoothly at both the provincial and national levels. Plus, they provide some solid liability coverage for our riders.

Make sure to get those affiliation fees in by February 28, 2025. Team managers can register their schools using the link below. Once they’re set up, an invoice will be sent out, and then the affiliation fees can be paid.

Affiliation fees for schools in 2025:

  • 1 – 10 riders: R300
  • 11 – 20 riders: R600
  • 21 – 50 riders: R1000
  • 50+ riders: R1500

Just a heads up: if entries for events open and a school isn’t affiliated yet, any riders from that school will need to pay the usual entry fee plus an extra R100 to get affiliated. If the first student pays that R100, the next student from the same school will also need to pay the extra R100, and so on until the total affiliation fee of R500 is covered.

If your school is hesitant to pay affiliation fees:

Don’t worry, you’ve got options! If your school isn’t willing to pay up, you can register for affiliation, with the school’s permission, of course. Get a few parents from the school together to pitch in for the fee.

Lots of school teams are started and run by passionate parents, and as cycling grows within the school, it’s often easier to get the school on board and officially recognize cycling as a school sport.
