📢 Event Update – Trail & Weather Conditions
Hi everyone,
We know there’s been a lot of questions after the recent rain and wind, so just to share a quick update from our Exco and organising team after last night’s meeting:
✅ Event Status
For now, the event is still on track for Saturday.
The track is closed for practice today, but should be re-opened tomorrow for those that still need to practice (TBC)
🌧️ Trail Conditions
Despite the heavy rain in Paarl, the team from Paarl Trails (our experienced trail builders) are feeling confident that the trails will be ridable. This is based on:
- A site visit yesterday to check the track conditions
- Their experience dealing with weather like this
- A good weather forecast ahead (clear skies and no more rain), giving the trails time to dry out
- The natural slope of the track and parking areas, which helps with drainage
Another visit is happening today to sort out any damage and tweak routes where needed.
🚗 Parking
Parking is also being looked at during these checks to make sure we can handle the number of cars safely.
⏳ Where we are now
We’re still in the final decision-making phase. We should have a clearer view by tomorrow, including any changes, and will share as soon as everything is confirmed.
🙏 Thanks so much for your patience — and a big shoutout to Darren, Duranne and the Paarl Trails team for all the hard work going into getting the trails ready.
We’ll keep you posted 👍
Start Lists
Start list will be available the Friday before the event.
Provisional start lists, which are a work in progress, may be available earlier. Content will change as we finalise and process all information and support tickets.

Number / Board
We are re-using the 2025 boards in 2026, so bring your old board along. Sub Nippers and those moving from primary to high school will be issued new boards irrespective (free of charge, no need to notify us). The board must be used for all races in the 2026 series.
If you were issued a board in 2025 or 2026, but need a replacement, submit a request at Registration – Western Cape School Cycling – Support desk with the summary “New board” and share your name, date of birth and, if known, old board number, then we will have it ready for you on the day, reducing waiting time. One free board will be issued per year, subsequent replacements will incur a R100 fee.
Parking
Parking details will be provided later.
Registration
There will be a registration point at the venue where Team Managers must collect their school’s number boards at least one hour prior to the start of racing. The number boards contain a timing chip with a rider’s details and cyclists may therefore not swop number boards! Should there be any children not represented by a Team Manager, they are to go to registration with a responsible adult. Registration opens at 6:50
Timing
An electronic timing system will be in use. Each number board has an embedded chip which the timing system will pick up. Participants are required to have their number boards attached to the front handlebars before the start of an event. No board, no time!
Please do not swap your timing board with another participant. Your personal information is stored on the timing system linked to the board you are issued with. The bike boards are to be kept for the entire series. If you lose your board between races, a new one can be purchased at registration at a cost of R100.
Online Registration
Entries are now closed!!! No Late Registration will be possible
Problems?
If you have any problems with registration, start lists or results, may we request that you log a ticket at Registration – Western Cape School Cycling – Support Desk or send us an email to support@westerncapeschoolscycling.co.za. Please do not email the info email address.
We like to hear from you on how we can improve the event information or the registration process.
